LWML 80th Anniversary Celebration Service Project Updates

‘Teddy Bears Helping Children During Tough Times’

This story starts with Liz, lover of teddy bears. Over a period of 40+ years Liz has collected teddy bears. She recently wanted to share some of the many teddy bears with children who needed comfort. She learned that the St. Francois County Sheriff's Department in Farmington needed stuffed animals. They give them to children who need comfort in an unusual or stressful time that results in the involvement of law enforcement such as car accidents or other traumatic events.

As Liz was talking about taking the bears to Farmington, Donita offered to take them since she passed by this office almost every day. Donita was able to take her grandchildren Ayden, Andersen and Ava with her when she delivered the teddy bears to the sheriff’s department. The sheriff was very appreciative of the teddy bears and thanked the children and their grandmother for helping others with this gift.  He also gave them a special tour of the facility. 😊

Nov. 12, 2022-LWML Fall Rally at Zion in Pevely-

We woke up to a 5 inch snow the morning of the rally! This kept a couple of us from bein able to get out of the driveway, but 6 of us were able to attend this wonderful event! We had a wonderful fellowship with our other LWML sisters in Christ, 62 total in attendance! The morning went something like this;

  • We enjoyed morning snacks and fellowship.
  • We were blessed with a meaningful devotional shared by the Pastor of Zion Pevely.
  • We all participated in conducting the usual business required of all successful LWML districts to keep things running through Christ.
  • We enjoyed a fun 'interrupter' skit performed by our very own Liz and Barb in their wonderful purple and yellow hats!
  • We were blessed with a wonderful presentation by the LWML Gift Planner.
  • We enjoyed a lunch fellowship, then worked together to put together 80 'essential food item bags' that are intended to be given to the homeless or others in need.

Thanks be to God!
